Role

Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Theatre Stock Controller to join our Pharmacy Department. This role is critical in ensuring that our operating theatres have the right stock, at the right time, to support exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accurate management of theatre and consignment stock to support uninterrupted surgical services.
  • Monitor stock levels, maintain agreed minimum and maximum stock holdings, and initiate replenishment to ensure product availability.
  • Receive, inspect and process stock deliveries, ensuring quantities, pricing and product specifications are accurate.
  • Manage stock transfers, returns and emergency stock requirements in accordance with hospital procedures.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, participate in scheduled stock takes, and investigate stock discrepancies to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Monitor expiry dates, slow-moving stock and excess inventory to minimise waste and optimise stock utilisation.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and ensure all stock movements are correctly documented and reconciled.
  • Liaise with suppliers, pharmacy staff and theatre personnel to resolve stock queries and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Assist with theatre billing processes by verifying stock utilisation and supporting accurate revenue capture when required.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards and quality assurance requirements while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Education

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • A qualification in Stock Control, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field will be advantageous.


 

Experience and Requirements

  • Previous experience in stock control, inventory management or a similar role, preferably within a hospital or healthcare environment.
  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with stock management systems will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of theatre consumables and consignment stock processes will be an added advantage.
