Role

Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital has an exciting opportunity available for a Junior Clinical Engineer to join our team. We are looking for a technically minded and motivated individual with a passion for medical technology and the healthcare environment. The successful candidate will provide technical and administrative support in the management, maintenance and monitoring of medical equipment and clinical technology within the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support and basic fault finding on medical equipment.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance, calibration and equipment safety requirements.
  • Respond to equipment-related faults and technical queries from clinical departments.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the medical equipment asset register and equipment records.
  • Coordinate repairs and maintenance with suppliers and service providers.
  • Monitor outstanding repairs, maintenance and calibration requirements.
  • Assist with the receipt, commissioning and decommissioning of medical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate technical, maintenance and service documentation.
  • Promote the safe handling and use of medical equipment.
  • Support quality, safety and compliance requirements relating to medical equipment.
  • Work under the guidance and mentorship of the Clinical Engineer while continuously developing technical knowledge and skills.

Education

  • National Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related technical qualification.

Experience and Requirements

  • 0–2 years' relevant technical experience.
  • Previous exposure to a hospital, healthcare or medical equipment environment will be advantageous.
  • Graduate candidates with an appropriate technical qualification are encouraged to apply.
  • Computer literacy.
