Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital (ZAH) is seeking a suitably qualified and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our Finance Department.

Role

The successful candidate will support the Finance function through accurate financial processing, reconciliations, reporting, treasury administration and general accounting activities across the group.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process accounting journals, including accruals, provisions, prepayments and recurring monthly entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close processes.
  • Perform general ledger and monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Assist with daily banking, cashbook processing, cash balance reporting and treasury administration.
  • Process supplier payments, patient refunds and intercompany transactions accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Collaborate extensively with the Creditors Department on all accounts payable and creditor management activities.
  • Support annual audit processes. 
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and assist with capital expenditure and Work-in-Progress reconciliations.
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations and supporting schedules for review.
  • Compile B-BBEE procurement and expenditure reports.
  • Support finance system improvements, automation initiatives and process enhancements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure compliance with financial controls, policies and POPIA requirements.
  • Respond professionally to financial queries and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

Education

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting / Finance

Experience and Requirements

  • 2 – 3 Years experience in a similar role
  • Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Experience in SAGE evolution (including Netcash integrations) will be advantageous
  • Practical experience in system integrations (extracting raw system reports and converting them into import-ready CSV files)
