Role
Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Enrolled Nurse to join our Cathlab Theatre team. We are looking for an experienced theatre nurse who is competent in both Circulating and Anaesthetic nursing and who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Providing safe, efficient and compassionate perioperative nursing care.
- Assisting the anaesthetist during anaesthetic procedures and preparing anaesthetic equipment and medication.
- Functioning as the Circulating Nurse during surgical procedures.
- Preparing and maintaining a safe, clean and well-organised theatre environment.
- Monitoring patients throughout the perioperative process and promptly reporting changes in condition.
- Assisting surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary theatre team during procedures.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and theatre records.
- Ensuring compliance with infection prevention, patient safety and quality standards.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and promoting exceptional patient care.
Education
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse.
Experience and Requirements
- Previous experience in a theatre environment.
- Proven competence in both Anaesthetic and Circulating nursing.
- Sound knowledge of theatre protocols, infection prevention and patient safety principles.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to participate in the hospital's on-call system.
